Yes, Jesus
is alive, that is true according to the Bible, which is accepted
as the book that records events that had to do with Jesus Christ,
and the time when he first appeared on earth as the Son of God.
It records for us also his death, and asks us to believe, in
faith, that Jesus rose from the grave and ascended to his Father
in heaven.
If Jesus then did
rise again and lives eternally, why does it matter to us anyway?
Well one thing is sure in our lives, and that is that we will
all die. The Bible again makes this very plain for us, and tells
us that this is the end of all life, because of the curse God
put on the earth when mankind showed himself to be disobedient
and sinful.
“from dust
you are, and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3 v 19
N.I.V.)
.But, there is also
promise of a regeneration and a time of change to this condition:
“as Christ
was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we
too may live a new life.” (Romans 6 v 4 N.I.V.)
This is the firm
promise, repeated time and again, of resurrection from the dead.
Jesus said:
“For my Father’s
will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him
shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last
day”. (John 6 v 40 N.I.V.)
This kind of promise
would be hollow to most of us without some form of special proof.
That proof was provided
in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. His being alive
now gives the assurance of our own resurrection to come, if
we are prepared to live a life of faith and obedience that is
based upon Jesus’ wonderful example.
